The people behind a company are as important as the company itself. Who's Who in the Zoo, a recurring blog series that puts faces to the names. This month’s Who’s Who is our fabulous friend, Bob. Let’s get to know him a little better…
If you could have dinner with any person (dead or alive) who would it be and why?
My Mamaw and Papaw, I miss them so much, and it would be great to talk to them again. Maybe even find some secrets out about the afterlife, haha.
What is something on your bucket list?
Tour of Italy. I've been obsessed with Italy since playing the Assassin's Creed franchise, and I want to see everything in person!
Who has been the biggest influence in your life and why?
My wife, Amy. She has been with me through the most influential times of my life. She has backed me with every decision that I have ever made in hopes of making our lives better. She helps me see the good in people when I am only seeing the bad. She definitely brightens my days.
If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of your life what would it be?
Probably "Spongebob." That show can make me laugh no matter what. It has just enough adult humor to make it a borderline kid's show, haha!
What is the best board game you've ever played?
Thanks to my brother I have played so many. Picking one would be really tough, and I don't really have a go-to unless I am playing games with my kids and nieces and nephews. If the kids are involved, then we are looking at anything that adds competition and hilarity. So games like Trouble, Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, etc. are the go-to.
Adult time: anything fun that passes the time. I hate being bored when I should be having fun. If I had to pick one, maybe Ticket to Ride since it is a different game every time you play it.
What's your sports team?
Indianapolis Colts, of course!
What would you do if you won a million dollars?
First thing would be to hire a financial advisor, but after that, I am definitely buying a house and two new cars. Outside of that, it would be to help my family get out of debt. They have helped me so many times in the past that it would be nice to repay the favor.
What is one book you would recommend everyone reads at some point in their lifetime?
I'm not a big reader, but I loved the Harry Potter series (as did many other people). here are just so many things that you get from the books that are not covered (or incorrectly covered) in the movies.
If you could give your younger self one piece of advice what would it be?
SAVE SAVE SAVE!! I've always struggled with saving money. So definitely would love to instill that into my younger self.
What does an IT Specialist do?
I'm like the security blanket for other Appirians. I like to think of myself as the person you come to when you are dumbfounded by something. We support a lot of the software that Appirians use on a daily basis. We help with some hardware issues. We are the Salesforce.org Administrators. There are a lot of behind the scenes things we have a hand in.
What drew you to this role and company?
Shout out to my brother Brandon for helping to influence my view on the company. I got to meet so many Appirians prior to working here at the events that he would invite me to. So I knew the company and waited to find something that would be a good fit; an IT Specialist position opened up, and the rest is history!
How do you like to relax after a long day of work?
Preferably, I'd like to be playing video games and even streaming on Twitch (MalenkoMC). It's something that I was getting into before I started at Appirio and haven't been able to do since. I've got a lot of learning to do. Currently, I am typically planted in front of the TV in my recliner, haha.
Describe the perfect Saturday.
My perfect Saturday would be a full day of PC gaming or diving into a new series on Netflix. Unless I have some spending money, then I don't mind going shopping. Pretty much anything that will allow me to relax and shake off the worries of the previous week.
