“In my soul, I am still that small child who did not care about anything else but the beautiful colors of a rainbow.” — Papiha Ghosh

ARP1Appirio is known for our work with Salesforce, Workday, and crowdsourcing. But we do much more, and with other organizations. That’s part of what makes Appirio such a great place to work — its commitment to diverse projects and innovation.

In my role as a Delivery Manager in Jaipur, I oversee Quality Assurance for what we call our Acceleration Practices. I have been with Appirio since 2009, during which time many customers have adopted strategies, scripts, and methodology documented by me. And with that, I say, Welcome to the rainbow of Acceleration Practices!

According to Facts for Life, the brain grows fastest in first 5 years of life. And I believe there is a child in all of us (see this picture if you don’t believe me). So if you are working on a technology for years, and your inner child is craving new things, you have come to the right place.

Here I will explore three Acceleration Practice “toy boxes,” if you will, that will allow your inner child new opportunities for fun, learning, development, and growth. All you have to do is open the box and get engaged, creating lasting experiences and wonderful memories at work.

#1: Medallia — hardwiring customers into every decision

ARP2In this box, you will find Medallia, a platform that makes customer experience improvements a systematic, organization-wide effort.

Medallia allows customers to gather feedback from every user at every touchpoint, and then provide relevant data to specific individuals across their organization.

This particular toy box doesn’t just give employees the organizational insight they need — it also guides and empowers them to take the necessary actions to improve.

What kind of toys can I create?

You can create state-of-the-art Survey Applications, reports to analyze employee feedback, and get actionable data for every employee in the organization.

What skills do I need?

To engage with this AP toy box, all you need is:

  1. Basic IT awareness
  2. Basic Knowledge of HTML/CSS
  3. Knowledge of Javascript
  4. Regular expressions

Who will use these toys?

The toys (apps) you create will be used by industries such as hospitality, healthcare, retail, and more. These apps will help operationalize their survey needs so that feedback received produces results, rather than simple statistics.

#2: ServiceMax — rethinking field service

ServiceMax is an outdoors toy box of sorts, meaning you need the services field in order to play. Many of the tools inside this box are for companies that have to send people out into the field to solve customer problems or conduct return merchandise authorizations/warranty repairs.

What kind of toys can I create?

You can create toys (apps) for scheduling the services, work order management, contract management, parts management, and warranty/repair management. What’s more, you can integrate these apps with social networks and mobile.

What skills do I need?

ARP3To engage with this AP toy box, all you need is:

  1. Basic training on Servicemax administration
  2. Apex/Visualforce/Javascript/Flex

Who will use these toys?

Domino (print technology), Paramount Asset (realty), PSC (hazardous waste disposal) are just a few of the grown-ups who are playing with these toys to attain the ultimate service satisfaction score.

#3: CallidusCloud — configure, price, quote

The CallidusCloud toy box contain tools to automate the Lead to Money process, which will help customers close more deals (for more money) in record time. The model here is: Configure, Price, and Quote.

What kind of toys can I create?

You can create toys (apps) for quotes, proposals, and Request for Proposal (RFP) generation. You can also integrate these apps with CRM, ERP, Tax Management Systems, Freight, eCommerce, and more.

What skills do I need?

To engage with this AP toy box, all you need is:

  1. Willingness to learn new scripting languages like IronPython
  2. CRM knowledge

Bonus: experience with data integration tools could provide an advantage.

Who will use these toys?

These apps will be used by the Sales team. They will help with accelerating sales cycles, up-selling, creating better margins, minimizing errors, and improving overall sales performance.
