Taking the Student Experience to a Whole New Level at USF

Technology is driving changes to business models across all industries, including Higher Education. Today’s academic institutions are embracing technology to transform the student experience as we know it.

How higher education is changing

Technological progress and seamless B2C mobile and desktop experiences are creating new discerning users, especially among the youngest student populations. iGeneration, kids brought up on technology, have rapidly shifting needs and greater expectations around access, transparency, and information. Higher education organizations that want to survive and thrive in the “Age of Access” must evolve or risk falling behind.

Can higher education be saved?

Yes, if the right technologies and processes are integrated to optimize learning and student engagement and success.

The University of San Francisco (USF), is one of the higher education organizations that’s moving fast to address increasing student demands. The university has launched a number of strategic initiatives that focus on creating an attractive campus and providing easily accessible resources to promote teaching, learning, and community. Having had initial success, USF wanted to take their efforts a step further and create a 360 view of their students while giving students a 360 view of their university.

Introducing Salesforce.org to USF

Before Salesforce was implemented, Students at USF faced a myriad of challenges when it came to managing their schedules, tasks, referrals, appointments, and administrative requirements. Managing these responsibilities in multiple locations with confusing menu systems resulted in a poor digital experience, decreasing engagement and driving students away from university services.

To address these challenges, USF partnered for impact with Appirio. Together, USF and Appirio's Higher Ed experts designed, built, and implemented a Salesforce Community. To hear what  Anna Jaeger, the USF Salesforce Team Manager, faculty members, and students have to say about their new elevated experience, watch the video at the top of this blog.
