“Swiftly” Supporting iOS App Dev for the Enterprise

The Apple Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) is always an exciting time for the tech community, leaving many of us on the edge of our (virtual and actual) seats as we wait to hear what Apple has in store for us next — and this year is sure to be no different.

Last year’s announcement of Swift for iOS8 left organizations with mixed emotions: There are endless possibilities to be had with this elegant Swift code… but how and where are we going to find the talent we need fast enough to deliver on this?

The panic of figuring out how to ramp up internally — recruit talent, afford the talent, onboard talent, retain the talent, educate the talent, repeat — is thankfully a problem of the past. Now, rather than worrying about sourcing and hiring staff that may or may not be successful, you can focus solely on the project you’d like to accomplish — and you can do this thanks to the crowd.

The Appirio community is comprised of more than 750,000 of the best and brightest technical minds on the planet (literally), from designers and data scientists to programmers and beyond. Think of it as genius on demand; simply turn your project idea over to the powerful and reliable crowd, sit back, relax, and wait for the results to blow you away. (And those results are faster and more cost efficient than you could have ever dreamed.)

Just two weeks after WWDC 2014, our team launched a series of open developer challenges focused on introducing this new language to our community. The Swift iOS8 series was topped-off by a virtual hackathon with prize monies totaling $20,000. That was just the beginning of how our community prepared to meet the “Swift” appetite of the enterprise.

We’ll soon be announcing even more ways we’re growing and supporting the iOS developers in our community so that we can help enterprises succeed in the new mobile-first, app-focused economy. We can’t wait to tell you more.

The Future of Work is here. Is your organization prepared?
