A Top-10 commercial banking client looked to be one of the first banks to accept PPP applications online, in accordance with the CARES Act. Initially approved on March 27 by the US government, in response to COVID-19 shutting down businesses across the US, the CARES Act created the need for commercial banks to communicate quickly and efficiently to their customers how to proceed with PPP and SBA Loan applications. The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) operates on a first-come-first-served basis and is valid only as long as the original budgeted amounts were available, making this a time-sensitive project. Our banking customer looked to gain an early advantage by being one of the first banks to accept PPP applications online. Appirio and Wipro, as a long-standing, trusted partner of the bank, collaborated to deliver an ambitious initiative. This joint team kicked off Friday, April 3, to design, develop, and test a public-facing loan application launching by start-of-business Monday, April 6. Within 72 hours, we were able to create a live landing page for the bank's users that included changes to accommodate changing SBA regulations, and was built and tested from the Salesforce ecosystem over the weekend. This Top 10 National Bank was one of the first five American banks to accept applications digitally end to end, where we saw their competitors used manual forms and in-branch applications only.
