(January 2, 2018) As a CEO, I spend a lot of time thinking and talking with others about business priorities, and invariably, company culture rises to the top during these conversations. This is especially true in the technology industry, where companies can struggle with recruiting the specific skills they need and enticing top talent to stick around for the long haul.
It’s not surprising. Experience has taught me that culture impacts nearly everything in business -- from who you hire, to how you operate, to the decisions that affect employee loyalty, customer satisfaction and market valuation. It appears I’m not alone. Earlier this year, researchers at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business surveyed CEOs and CFOs from nearly 1,400 organizations about the importance of culture in business, and 92% said that improving culture would increase their organization’s value.
