5 Time-Saving Tools to Make You Way More Productive in 2019

Ah yes, the hustle and the bustle of the end of the year is here and in full swing. While time may feel like it’s flying by and there is so much to do before ringing in the New Year and flipping the calendar to 2019, now is a great time to reflect on what tech tools and tips helped you through 2018.

As Appirio’s social media strategist, a huge part of my role is to stay on top of any and all new tools that come out that can better help us optimize our content, social media, brand presence, and digital reputation. While most social media strategists love learning about social media management tools like Sprout Social and new Facebook API updates, I also am fascinated by other types of tools that can better help me create a cohesive and comprehensive social strategy.

While I begin Appiro’s year-end social media report and look towards 2019 planning, I can’t stop singing “Joy to the World” for the following tools and apps that have completely changed my everyday work flow...and they aren’t exclusive to social media management.  Whether you are looking to save time as a project manager, content writer, designer, sales manager, or web developer, these five tools can help your 2019 be the best yet:

Canva: If there is anything you need to know about me, it’s that I am NOT a designer by any means. However, with Canva, I can moonlight as a designer with its easy to use drag and drop features and premade graphics templates. Whether you’re looking to make quick, professional customized marketing collateral pieces or searching for the perfect social media or digital graphics, Canva can do it all. As a consultant, I’m often asked by clients about the best and easiest way to get high-quality graphics designed without breaking the bank, and my answer is always Canva.

Uberflip: Anyone in just about ANY industry knows that content is king...however, finding a content platform that helps businesses like Appirio create outstanding content experiences is not always easy. Uberflip is a cloud-based content experience platform that helps its users create unique content offerings like blog posts, eBooks, and flipbooks for every stage of the buyer journey. I love Uberflip because it makes content creation easy and when I’m working to get new content up onto Appirio’s multiple social media channels, Uberflip understands that time is of the essence. Appirio’s entire Resources Hub is on Uberflip, and I couldn’t think of a simpler, more professional content solution.

LinkedIn’s content suggestions: Like most social media and content strategists out there, I’m always trying to find content that is timely, relevant, interesting, and on-brand for Appirio. I’m constantly thinking of ways to add Appirio’s perspective into trending conversations. Thanks to LinkedIn’s newest feature, my content brainstorming workload just became a little lighter. With a brand-spankin' new section that shows “content suggestions” for Appirio’s company page, I have access to endless articles and other content that relate back to Appiro. Whether I’m looking for something to cover our manufacturing market capabilities or our partnership with Google, LinkedIn is now putting endless content options at my fingertips. Thanks, LinkedIn, thanks.

Grammarly: Even former English majors make mistakes when it comes to spelling and grammar — especially when writing fast and producing heaps of content. While spellcheck goes a long way, nothing does a better job than catching errors, mistakes, typos, and misguided punctuation than Grammarly. Thanks to the Grammarly extension that I added to my browser earlier this year, proofreading for spelling and grammar has not only helped my writing, but it’s also saved me time. Also, Grammarly sends emails each week with how many words you write and how many errors they find. If you’re competitive, you will always strive to outdo the last week (I know I do).

Hemingway app: The Sun Also Rises is one of my favorite books by Ernest Hemingway, so it’s no surprise I’ve gravitated towards the Hemingway app to analyze my own writing. While Grammarly specializes in spelling and grammar, Hemingway helps make writing clear and concise. When writing for social media — whether it’s a tweet or a Facebook update — it’s important to have clear CTAs with an established voice. The Hemingway app, much like Hemingway himself, is simple yet bold and makes a great addition to everyone’s fav list.

With social media platforms and social strategies changing at the speed of light, it’s important to stay ahead of trends and tools as they’re released , but if you ask me — it’s even more important to stay up-to-date and engaged with tools that can help build better content and business practices (seriously...who doesn’t love a perfectly written e-mail or a snazzy, creative easy-to-make graphic?).
